Research

- Main research interests and expertise

  • Palaeoanthropologist and Functional Anatomist with a major interest in the origins and diversity of the bipedal locomotion through hominins evolution in a comparative perspective, from a modelling procedure based on anatomical data and applied to hominin fossil remains, to the motion analysis of non-human models, especially primates. In that frame, I built the technical platform ‘Motion Analysis of Primates (MAP)’ in collaboration with the CNRS Primatology Station. The recent main contributions concern the bipedal locomotion in baboons, showing how coordinated and non-erratic it is and how it correlates to body mass distribution.
  • Field researcher, with a major interest in the early human settlement of Eurasia thanks to the joint Iranian and French collaborative program currently conducted on the Palaeolithic sites of Garm Roud (Mazandaran) and Mirak (Semnan), as well as in the study of fossil prints in the frame of 2 field collaborative programs (Modern humans at Cussac, Dordogne, and the Neanderthal site of Le Rozel, Manche, France).
